cdi is a premier southeast-based dedicated logistics company committed to providing quality “last mile” service primarily focused on the Quick Service Restaurant (“QSR”) industry. The company was originally founded in 1972 by Tom Willingham and was named IDI (Interstate Distributors, Inc.). IDI experienced rapid growth and became a very successful chain distributor known for its great customer service and creativity. In the early 1990’s Mr. Willingham made the decision to sell the company then in turn team up with Marc Gruber to buy the business back in the late 90”s at the request of past customers. Mr. Willingham and Mr. Gruber formed cdi in 2000 and they were back distributing to the QSR industry. The company has since concentrated on servicing restaurants in the southeast United States.
In late 2020, Mr. Dick DiStasio, a long-time industry executive, (approached cdi) and inquired if the business would be available for sale. During this process, Dick partnered with HC Private Investments (“HCPI”), a Chicago-based private investment firm. HCPI ‘s approach to their investments has a long-term view, which made for a strong fit for the strategic growth of the business. cdi has a long history of supporting their customers through multiple stages of growth. cdi will continue to provide a full-service value-added alternative to national broadline food distributors. The Company’s strategy is to grow with their customers as well as expand geographically as the business needs require.
